UMB CURE Scholars Program (Middle and High School Students)
The UMB CURE Scholars Program is a transformative STEM and healthcare pipeline that empowers West Baltimore students from 6th through 12th grade with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to excel in high-impact careers in research, health care, and STEM. Through year-round, hands-on programming that integrates accelerated learning in food science, anatomy, robotics and coding, research experiences, career exploration, and college preparation, CURE provides a comprehensive foundation for academic and career success. By fostering early exposure and sustained support with after school sessions, Saturday sessions, Summer Academy, lab training, and internships, CURE cultivates a generation of local leaders dedicated to innovation and community transformation.
CATALYST (Middle School Teachers)
Designed to support the middle school component of UMB CURE, CATALYST involves middle and high school teachers conducting summer research in UMGCCC labs, the outcomes of which form the basis of new curriculum and community education material.
UMB RAMP (High School Students)
Research and Mentoring Program (RAMP) is a summer research training program that targets 11th and 12th grade high school students from Baltimore City. The program aims to prepare students for careers in biomedical research. RAMP is designed for students with a strong interest in biology, chemistry, medicine, or related fields. RAMP is a 2-year program, consisting of a 5-week summer program that teaches foundational knowledge required to understand concepts across the translational research continuum while providing the skills to perform basic lab techniques and clinical measurements and school year research rotation experiences in year one, followed by an applied summer research experience during the second summer.
STEM Outreach Day (High School Students)
STEM Outreach Day is an outreach program sponsored by the University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center (UMGCCC) that targets 10th-12th grade high school students from Baltimore City area. This semi-annual event aims to introduce students to careers available in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
