Brief Description

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has released a new parent F99/K00 Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Transition Award (PA-27-037), which replaces the previous NCI F99/K00 Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO).

The F99/K99 NOFO supports doctoral students as they complete dissertation research and transition to mentored postdoctoral research positions, helping to strengthen the future biomedical research workforce. 

Key Changes from the Previous NCI F99/K00 NOFO
  • No institutional nomination required.
  • No limit on the number of applications an institution may submit per application due date.
  • Predoctoral candidates should be 1-2 years from completing their doctoral degree by the requested start date.
  • Candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents by the time of award.
  • Up to 5 years of total support (up to 2 years for F99 phase and up to 3 years for K00 phase).
