Brief Description

Brain Tumor Research Grants

The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation leads the way in funding basic and translational science, clinical trials for novel treatments, core resources, research consortiums, and scientific conferences that improve survival and quality of life outcomes for pediatric brain tumor patients and survivors.

Thank you for your tireless passion for conducting research toward breakthroughs for young people impacted by brain tumors.

Throughout the year, the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF) advances several research projects, programs and initiatives towards our mission to improve survival outcomes. We utilize a diverse portfolio that includes foundation-initiated programs; collaborative funding programs, and investigator-initiated general applications submitted through our website.

Our online portal for submitting investigator-initiated general applications will open on April 1, 2025 and is not accepting applications at this time. Please visit our grant application website starting April 1st where we will provide our latest funding criteria, application process and important dates.

Below is a preview of important grant support conditions for 2025:

  • Clinical and translational research prioritized – The PBTF prioritizes supporting patient-impacting research projects and programs that include pilot studies, Phase 0, Phase I and Phase I/II trials and preclinical research with a clearly defined path-forward to clinical research.
  • Indirect costs – The PBTF will not fund overhead costs, indirect costs, or similar fees or charges levied by an institution. Funds are not provided for equipment, administrative support, renovations or travel. All funds are to be distributed only for salaries and supplies/reagents/services directly related to the funded research.
  • Two-stage submission process: For the PBTF grant submission, applicants are required to submit a pre-proposal and, if invited to the next stage, a full application. All submissions undergo an administrative and scientific review, which also considers our funding priorities.
