Brief Description

Purpose - The purpose for this call for nominations is to highlight early career scientists who are advancing research within the areas supported by the Division of Cancer Prevention (DCP) at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). The individuals selected will be featured on the NCI DCP website and social media as well as being invited to present their research to the broad NCI community. The overall goal is to increase visibility and provide recognition to the early career scientists conducting research within the areas supported by DCP.

DCP Scientific Scope - DCP furthers the mission of the National Cancer Institute by leading, supporting, and promoting rigorous, innovative research and training to prevent cancer and its consequences to improve the health of all people. DCP supports research spanning the full translational spectrum, from preclinical (e.g., cell and tissue culture, animal models) to clinical (e.g., small early phase clinical trials to large phase III studies) research focused on the following areas:

  • Cancer Early Detection Biomarker Development and Screening
  • Intervention Development for Cancer Prevention
  • Precision Cancer Prevention
  • Symptom Science and Management
